SALLY

What would you sacrifice to touch God?

Conceived as three films. Each one opens the door a little wider.

You’ve heard of Molly. Tina. And obviously Mary Jane.
Meet Sally.

Disgraced biochemistry professor GRAYDON CRUZ O’BRIAN calls it his own formulation. Says it lasts fifteen minutes. His early experiments left him seeing only in black and white, but he assures everybody he’s corrected that particular problem.

He also believes he touched God.

Now he’s travelling across America with THUMPER, his filmmaking accomplice, looking for a way back. Graydon conducts the experiments. Thumper keeps the camera running. There is always somebody willing to try something extraordinary.

SALLY begins with PORTLAND - TEST 20, a nine-minute short prequel: a night out, the wrong hotel suite and an experience neither guest understands until it is too late.

The first feature takes us inside an illegal warehouse party east of Los Angeles. Graydon arrives with the drugs everybody has been waiting for. Before morning, friends become threats, private fears become physical dangers, and nobody can trust what they see.

Beyond the warehouse, the world expands. SALLY is conceived as a trilogy of standalone nightmares connected by Graydon, Thumper and the continuing experiments. New subjects. More exclusive invitations. Greater resources. Each film escalating in scale, spectacle and consequence.

THE FILM IS PART OF THE EXPERIMENT.

The planned visual language combines black-and-white Super 16mm TRI-X with Super 8 TRI-X. Hard highlights. Deep blacks. Film grain. The physical texture of images caught rather than manufactured.

Thumper’s camera records what happens. Then her footage begins appearing where it has no business being. Evidence, memory and hallucination become increasingly difficult to separate.

THE SUBSTANCE IS REAL. SALLY IS FICTION.

Salvinorin A is the real hallucinogenic compound found in Salvia divinorum. SALLY takes that starting point into a fictional exploration of altered perception, obsession and the pursuit of transcendence. Graydon’s formulation, his experiments and their consequences belong to the story.

A party film that becomes a nightmare.
A travelling experiment with room to grow.
And a man who only needs fifteen minutes.
